Chrome microphone bug: No Audio

UPDATE - Google has released a fix for this bug in version 63 of Google Chrome

There is a rare issue where Chrome users will intermittently not be able to use their microphones.  When a user hits this, other meeting participants will not be able to hear them.  This is a Chrome bug that Google is actively working on.  More details for this issue and its progress can be found here.  

WebRTC Audio Settings

For WebRTC on Chrome, the sound will use your operating system’s default audio device.  This should change with Chrome 46, however until then, here is how you can change the headset or speaker(s) you would like to use in the BlueJeans meeting.

Adjusting computer sound settings to reduce echo

When not using a headset, and relying on your PC speakers and mic, changing the sound settings on your computer can help minimize echo issues.

Windows Configuration:

  1. Open the Control Panel and click on Sound
  2. Select the Recording tab, right-click your microphone, and select Properties
  3. Select the Enhancements tab, disable all enhancements, and click Apply.
