HTML5 Playback for BlueJeans Events

HTML5 Playback

BlueJeans Events support HTML5 Playback for Event Attendees joining using their web browser. The following browsers support HTML5 Playback for Events:

  • Mozilla Firefox (version 47+)
  • Google Chrome (version 42+)
  • Internet Explorer 11 (Windows 8.1 and above)
  • Microsoft Edge (Windows 10)
  • Safari (version 11+)


Windows 10

If you are running into difficulties using HTML5 on Windows 10, then you may be missing Microsoft's Media Feature Pack. Click Here to download and install the pack.



Using HTML5 in Linux environments may require additional steps. Refer to the instructions below to ensure that HTML5 playback is available on your Linux OS.

Fedora OS:

Ubuntu 12.04 and above:

Requires the installation of Ubuntu Restricted Extras to obtain the gstreamer codecs using the following command:

  • # sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras


Requires the installation of ffmpeg codec for H.264.

  1. Enable EPEL Repository with the following commands:
    • ## RHEL/CentOS 7 64-Bit ##
      • # wget
      • # rpm -ivh epel-release-7-9.noarch.rpm
    • ## RHEL/CentOS 6 64-Bit ##
      • # wget
      • # rpm -ivh epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm
    • ## RHEL/CentOS 6 32-Bit ##
      • # wget
      • # rpm -ivh epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm
  2. Enable Nux Dextop repo. This is a third-party RPM repository that contains many of the popular multimedia related packages for CentOS Releases and will only work if RPEL repo has already been enabled.
    • # rpm --import
    • # rpm -Uvh
  3. Install the ffmpeg codec.
    • # yum -y install ffmpeg ffmpeg-devel

Please Note: The gstreamer codec will not work for RHEL.
